Hosting migrations
I plan and deliver hosting migrations around the transactions, staff and connected systems your business relies on. Preparation, testing and the final switch are treated as one coordinated project.

Your hosting should support customers, orders and growth without swallowing more budget than it needs. I investigate performance and expenditure together, then deliver improvements around the way your business trades.
A larger server bill does not explain why checkout slows down or orders queue during a busy launch. I follow the workload through the website, database, cache, scheduled jobs and integrations to understand where capacity or configuration is causing difficulty.
The right solution could be a configuration change, more efficient background work, better caching, a different capacity plan or a hosting move. Recommendations account for the application, supplier arrangements and people who will operate it.
Online trading often has a pattern: busy daytime periods, promotions, product releases and quieter hours. Paying for peak capacity all the time can create unnecessary expenditure. Capacity changes still need to account for database load, sessions, storage and background processing.
In my previous senior role, a hosting programme incorporating migration and scheduled scaling reduced external hosting costs by 63%, saving approximately £40,800 annually. These are historical results from that environment; your opportunity depends on your workload and current arrangements.
Performance work is checked against real transactions. Product browsing, basket behaviour, payment confirmation, order processing and warehouse connections all need attention. A quick homepage can coexist with a slow or unreliable buying process.
I can work with your current host, including managed platforms such as Cloudways, or assess suitable alternatives. Changes are planned around available access, supplier responsibilities and the deployment process.
Ongoing hosting work is scoped around the environment. This can include monitoring, configuration, maintenance, capacity reviews, backups and recovery checks. We define who owns each task and when work is carried out.
Your business should retain appropriate account access and ownership. I document the arrangement and coordinate with developers and providers. Hosting charges, licences and third-party costs are identified separately from consultancy or management fees.
The £1,500 Ecommerce & Operations Audit can review relevant hosting expenditure and website performance as part of the wider operation. Detailed security, backups and recovery work are separate projects.
If you already know the hosting problem, we can scope a focused investigation directly. If the current environment is unsuitable, I can plan and deliver a hosting migration, with transaction testing and a clear cutover process.
Based in Bournemouth, I work with businesses across Dorset and through to Southampton, and manage infrastructure remotely further afield. A free 30–45-minute discovery meeting helps establish what is happening and possible directions.
Consultancy is £80 per hour, with fixed project quotes and individually scoped management arrangements available. Normal availability is Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, UK time; support coverage is agreed for each engagement.
No. I investigate the application and environment first. A targeted improvement may solve the problem within your current arrangement.
Yes. My experience includes live ecommerce migration and Magento work in its managed environment. Changes are planned around the host’s permissions and facilities.
Supplier bills are separate unless a written proposal explicitly includes them. You receive the consultancy scope and expected recurring costs before proceeding.
