Ecommerce consultancy that improves the whole business
Your online sales, warehouse, customer service and technology all affect the same bottom line. I understand how they work together, uncover what is holding you back and help deliver the changes that make the business stronger.
More orders can bring more administration, more staff and more problems to chase. Meanwhile, a slow website, weak product information or expensive hosting can quietly limit what the business earns. Those pressures often share causes that nobody has had time to investigate across departments.
I’m Tom Turner, an ecommerce and IT consultant based in Bournemouth. I work directly with owners and teams across Dorset and through to Southampton, combining more than 11 years of senior technology leadership with development, integrations, hosting and operational improvement.
I get to understand how your business really works. That means following customer journeys and orders, watching the work, talking with the people doing it and connecting their experience with sales, analytics and costs.
For businesses with something worth building on
This is for retailers, wholesalers and established businesses that want to sell more online or run their existing operation more effectively. You may have a small team or several departments. The useful starting point is an operating business and the willingness to invest in meaningful improvement.
You can bring a specific brief, or simply show me where the pressure is building. Common starting points include:
Order growth keeps requiring extra headcount, overtime or manual checking.
Customers leave the site, miss relevant products or struggle on particular devices.
Stock, orders, accounts and shipping depend on people copying information.
Hosting and integration bills are growing while performance remains disappointing.
Your team needs someone who can make sense of a complex problem and see the solution through.
Understand the complete operation first
The £1,500 Ecommerce & Operations Audit is usually the strongest way to begin when several parts of the business need attention. It covers one business and one website, with advance online review, an on-site visit, a written improvement roadmap and an included meeting to discuss the findings. No VAT is added.
I observe staff working and speak informally with owners, department leads, pickers, dispatch and support staff as relevant. We explore where orders wait, where checks are repeated, what information is missing and which routines create unnecessary expense.
You receive recommendations that explain the problem, the proposed change, its likely value and how to approach implementation. The audit is investigation and planning; implementation is separately agreed. You can act in house, use an agency or continue with me.
Priorities come from the commercial impact and the evidence. A fault blocking payment, a process consuming a full working day and a substantial recurring bill each need a different response. I explain the dependencies so improvements reinforce each other.
Increase the value of your online sales
I examine how customers find you, how the site presents your products and what happens between browsing and payment. That includes organic visibility, competitor positioning, device-specific faults, merchandising, relevant upselling, cart recovery and repeat ordering.
Release time across your operation
I trace payment confirmation, order release, stock, picking, pack checks, labels and customer support. A well-designed connection or script can remove a whole routine of copying and checking, giving people capacity for more valuable work.
Improve performance and control expenditure
I investigate website speed, hosting capacity and the recurring costs of running your sales operation. We compare the benefit of a change with development, equipment, training and ongoing costs before committing the budget.
From a clear plan to a working solution
I can implement improvements, deliver complete operational systems or work alongside your own team and agency. Work may involve ecommerce development, integrations, warehouse tools, hosting changes or a coordinated programme across several areas.
Implementation includes practical testing, rollout planning, staff guidance and handover. We agree measures such as order completion, average order value, handling time, exceptions and recurring expenditure, then review what the changes achieve.
My previous CTO role included the connected operation behind £10.9m in annual online transaction value, a 63% reduction in external hosting expenditure and automation that removed manual work equivalent to three full-time roles, with people redeployed. These are substantiated career results, with further context in Results.
A free discovery meeting usually lasts 30 to 45 minutes, preferably at your premises. We discuss your operation, spot visible opportunities and explore what implementing them could look like. Online meetings are available too.
If you already know what needs doing, we can scope that work directly. Consultancy is £80 per hour, with fixed project quotes and ongoing arrangements available. Scope and budget are agreed before paid work begins.
Do we have to buy an audit first?
No. A defined problem or implementation brief can go straight to a scoped project. The audit is particularly useful when the causes cross departments or you need a clear picture before deciding what to change.
Can you work with our existing people and suppliers?
Yes. I work with owners, managers, developers and suppliers. You can retain implementation in house, commission your agency or ask me to deliver it.
Do you also help with wider IT issues?
Yes. My experience is rooted in ecommerce, and I also undertake business IT consultancy and systems projects. Specialist investigations can be scoped separately from the standard audit.
More ways I can help
A closer look at related services and the experience behind them.
The £1,500 Ecommerce & Operations Audit connects your website, people, workflows and systems. I investigate where sales, time and money are being lost, then explain the changes that deserve your attention and how to move them forward.
These achievements come from my previous CTO role in an established retail and wholesale business. They show the scale of responsibility and practical delivery experience I bring to BCP Web.
I follow orders through your business, spend time with the people doing the work and uncover why delays, errors and repeated administration occur. Then I help build a fulfilment process that supports growth.
