Hi, I’m Tom. I make businesses work better.

I’m an ecommerce and IT consultant in Bournemouth, with over a decade of senior responsibility inside a retail and wholesale business. I understand the decisions an owner has to make, the work behind every order and the technology that connects it all.

I want to understand what is really happening

An owner tells me the warehouse needs more staff. Someone picking orders shows me the lists they have to reconcile. Customer service explains how much time goes into chasing dispatch information. Finance has a different view of which orders are ready. Those conversations help me see where the work comes from and how the parts connect.

I enjoy unpicking that picture. I follow the information, ask people to show me what they do and look for the cause of repeated problems. Sometimes the answer is a better integration. Sometimes it is a script that removes a daily administrative workload, or a change to how orders move through the business.

The same thinking applies online: where customers arrive, what they find, what persuades them to buy and what stops them. I connect that experience to the operation delivering it, so improvements make sense for the business as a whole.

Experience earned inside a working ecommerce business

In my previous CTO role, I led technology across four online stores and two warehouses. I worked directly with the owner, managed internal staff and coordinated external developers and suppliers. My responsibility covered strategy, delivery and the systems people relied on every day.

I established wholesale ecommerce, led an OpenCart-to-Magento migration and built integrations for stock, payments, couriers and Sage 50 accounting. I also developed the tools behind picking, goods intake, stocktaking and product labelling.

The operation recorded £10.9m in online transaction value across four stores in the twelve months to 22 September 2026. I reduced external hosting costs by 63%, equivalent to approximately £40,800 in annualised savings. Across the automation programme, manual work equivalent to three full-time roles was removed and those staff were redeployed.

A wholesale survey with more than 120 responses recorded 95% of website-specific ratings at 9/10 or 10/10. These are achievements from my previous role, which inform the experience I now bring to BCP Web clients.

I can take the work from investigation through to delivery

My technical background includes PHP, databases, APIs, webhooks, Linux, Cloudways and business web applications. I build integrations, operational tools and automation around how a business needs to work, and I can lead the wider project when several people or suppliers are involved.

That means a recommendation comes with a practical understanding of how to deliver it. I can work alongside your staff and agency, or take responsibility for an agreed implementation. Where specialist help is needed, I can coordinate it and keep the business objective in view.

I use AI where it helps produce a useful result, including assisted development and product-data tools. The important part is understanding the requirement, checking the output and making the solution dependable in daily use.

A practical working relationship

You work directly with me. I prefer plain conversations, clear priorities and decisions people can act on. When I visit, I talk casually with staff while they work, observe the process and ask about the things that make their day harder.

I will explain what I think is worth changing, why it matters and how we can approach it. We agree the work and budget before implementation starts. I also involve the people who will use the solution, so the change works on the warehouse floor or at the support desk as well as it does in a demonstration.

My strongest experience is ecommerce. I also help businesses with broader IT, hosting, systems and automation projects. BCP Web is a good fit when you have an established operation and want to invest in making it more effective.

Start with a useful conversation

The free discovery meeting usually takes 30–45 minutes. I prefer to meet at your premises, although we can start online. We discuss the business, visible opportunities and possible directions, drawing on experience that may be relevant to you.

The £1,500 Ecommerce & Operations Audit is the clearest starting point when you want a connected view of sales, workflows, systems and costs. If you already know what needs doing, we can scope that project directly.

I’m based in Bournemouth and visit businesses across Poole, Christchurch, wider Dorset and Southampton. Remote delivery is available further afield. Paid work can be hourly at £80, a fixed project or an ongoing arrangement, with the scope and budget agreed first.
