The reasoning, the priorities and the route to improvement

The report shows how the operation fits together, where the problems begin and which changes are worth making. Recommendations explain the proposed approach and practical next steps, with evidence and assumptions made clear.

01An owner’s view of the priorities
An executive summary, current-state assessment and process maps showing the most significant issues and opportunities.
02Evidence behind the findings
Observations, records and data explaining what happens, how often and what it means for customers, workload or costs.
03A considered business case
Estimated benefits, effort and cost ranges where supportable, with dependencies and areas needing further investigation.
04An actionable roadmap
Recommended approaches, implementation steps, priorities and measures to establish whether the work delivers the intended improvement.

The report is usually ready within a few days of your visit. One findings walkthrough is included to explain the recommendations and discuss the next steps.

BCP WebIllustrative report extract

Give each team a reliable order to work from.

The finding
In this example, finance confirms payments manually, the warehouse prints orders before all changes have arrived, and packers enter shipment details again. Teams work from different versions of the same order.
The business impact
Orders wait for checks, pickers handle stale instructions, packers correct mistakes and support staff chase updates. A dispatch problem creates work across the business.
The recommendation
Define a single order-release process with payment, stock and exception rules. Give picking and packing the current order, verify items before dispatch and return shipment status to the website and support team.

A practical implementation brief

  1. Map the current handovers and time a representative mix of ordinary and exception orders.
  2. Agree release rules, stock allocation and ownership of payment, address or order-change exceptions.
  3. Pilot the connected workflow with one team, including order amendments, partial orders and failed updates.
  4. Verify items before labels print, return tracking and status, and train staff before expanding the process.
Evidence, dependencies and measures

Evidence to collect: payment and order timestamps, observed handovers, re-entry time, amended orders, mis-picks and support contacts linked to delays.

Dependencies: reliable order and product data, agreed release rules, system access, integration capability and an exception process the team can operate.

Measure order-to-release time, hands-on minutes per order, dispatch performance, fulfilment errors and related support contacts.

What success would look likeLess repeated handling, clearer ownership and fewer avoidable corrections. Establish the baseline before estimating staff capacity or cash savings.

Improve the sales and the business behind them

When the website, people and systems work together, the business can sell more without letting every extra order create more manual work. I investigate both sides of that equation.

Find the sales you are missing

Review organic visibility, content, product discovery, conversion, order value and recovery. Decide which changes can turn existing demand into more worthwhile orders.

Customer experience and conversion

Remove repeated work from the operation

Follow payment, order release, picking, packing and dispatch. Connect information, define exception handling and replace tasks people repeat all day.

Orders, fulfilment and support

Challenge costs with a workable alternative

Assess hosting and relevant integration expenditure against how the service needs to operate. Build a costed path to better performance and a more efficient workflow.

Technology and operational costs

A well-designed integration or script can remove an entire manual process. The report explains where that is practical and how released time could reduce overtime, temporary labour or the need for another hire.

Choose the people who will deliver the changes

The report gives you an independent basis for action. You can use it with your own team or agency, or ask me to implement the recommendations.

Your own team

Use the findings, priorities and practical next steps to plan work internally.

Your agency or IT partner

Give an existing supplier a clear brief and measures to assess the outcome.

Implementation with me

Agree a project to put the improvements in place, including setup, testing, training and handover.

Further investigation, implementation and future progress reviews are separately scoped and paid. You are free to choose who does the work.

Before we begin

Which audit should I choose?

The £1,500 Ecommerce & Operations Audit is the useful starting point when sales, workflows, staff and systems need to be understood together. The £495 Website Audit is a narrower review of the online customer experience. We can decide in your free discovery meeting.

What does the £1,500 cover?

One business and one website, online preparation, an on-site review, analysis, a written improvement report and one findings walkthrough. Travel within Dorset and through to Southampton is included. The total is £1,500, with no VAT added.

How does the site visit work?

We agree the business areas and people to involve. I observe work and chat informally with owners, department leads and staff while they go about their day. The aim is to understand the operation and its handovers. Preparation, analysis and report writing take place around the visit.

Which information will help?

Analytics, sales records, general costs, order records and an understanding of staff workflows are useful. You can provide information before, during or after the visit. Missing data is identified in the report, with recommendations for the evidence needed.

What sits outside the standard audit?

Specialist security, backup and recovery, licensing and supplier-contract reviews. Additional websites, separate businesses and detailed follow-on investigations can also be scoped separately. Implementation and future progress reviews are paid work.

When will the report be ready?

Usually within a few days of the site visit. We confirm the expected delivery date before booking and arrange the included findings walkthrough.

Can our team or agency use the report?

Yes. It includes the findings, evidence, priorities, recommended approach and practical next steps. Your team or agency can use it independently, or you can agree implementation with me.

When do I pay?

The audit is paid in advance. Payment arrangements for implementation or ongoing consultancy are agreed with the scope and budget before work begins.

Can I start with implementation?

Yes. If you have a clear problem or project, contact me with the brief. The audit is particularly useful when solving it depends on understanding how several parts of the business work together.

Where do you work?

I am based in Bournemouth and visit businesses across Poole, Christchurch, wider Dorset and through to Southampton. Remote consultancy and the Website Audit are available further afield.

Let’s work out the most useful next step.
