I help established businesses get their systems working together, reduce unnecessary work and make sound technology decisions. You deal directly with me, from understanding the problem to delivering the improvement.
Perhaps staff copy the same information into several systems, a supplier keeps passing the problem elsewhere, or a project has stalled because nobody understands the dependencies. These problems consume management time as well as the team’s working day.
I work through the operation with the people using it. That might involve watching how a sales enquiry reaches the office, tracing data between applications or reviewing why a routine job needs constant attention. The aim is to identify the cause and a workable route to improvement.
My strongest experience is in ecommerce, where sales, finance, warehouses and customer service depend on each other. I bring the same practical approach to wider business IT projects.
Connect systems and reduce repeated work
A process that relies on someone exporting a spreadsheet, checking entries and importing it elsewhere deserves scrutiny. I establish which system should own each piece of information, what triggers the transfer and how exceptions are handled.
The solution could be an integration, a small internal application, a well-written script or a change to how existing software is used. I can deliver the technical work and make the revised process understandable to the team.
Business applications and integrations that remove duplicate entry.
Internal tools, reporting and automation for repeated tasks.
Workplace systems, networking and technology for operational teams.
Technical investigations, infrastructure changes and supplier coordination.
Make decisions with the whole cost in view
Before replacing a system, I assess what the business needs, what is already working and the consequences of a change. Subscription charges are only part of the cost: migration, training, integrations, maintenance and the time spent operating it also matter.
I can review proposals, clarify responsibilities and help owners decide what to commission. Where security, recovery, licences or supplier arrangements need detailed investigation, we agree a specific project around those questions.
Senior experience with practical delivery
My career includes more than a decade in senior technology leadership, supporting ecommerce, warehouse and business systems. I have managed internal staff, directed external developers and worked directly with business owners on budgets and priorities.
I can lead a project, carry out implementation or work alongside your existing team. We agree the result, budget and test criteria, then check the revised process with the people who will use it. Documentation and training support a useful handover.
Based in Bournemouth, I visit businesses across Dorset and through to Southampton, with remote work available further afield. A free discovery meeting normally lasts 30–45 minutes, preferably at your premises. We discuss the problem, useful initial directions and how delivery could work.
For an ecommerce business with connected problems, the £1,500 Ecommerce & Operations Audit gives us a fuller picture and an actionable report. If you already have a clear brief, we can scope the project directly.
Consultancy is £80 per hour, with fixed project quotes and ongoing arrangements agreed around the work. Normal availability is Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, UK time. Call 07356 243199 for urgent out-of-hours assistance, at £150 per hour when I can accept it.
IT consultancy questions
Can you work with our current IT team or supplier?
Yes. I can investigate a difficult issue, define a project, provide additional delivery capacity or help coordinate the people already responsible for your systems.
Do we need to purchase an audit first?
No. A defined IT problem or project can be scoped directly. The Ecommerce & Operations Audit is useful when we need to understand the wider trading operation.
Can you help a business that does not sell online?
Yes. My background is strongest in ecommerce, and I also work on business applications, automation, infrastructure and wider technology projects.
