Connect the systems your team currently holds together

When people copy orders, check payment screens and transfer stock information by hand, they become the connection between your systems. I understand the workflow and build the integration that removes that daily burden.

Follow the work before building the connection

An integration problem is usually visible in the working day: someone retypes an address, exports a spreadsheet, checks whether payment has cleared or corrects stock after dispatch. Those steps can take hours and introduce errors across several departments.

I observe the process with your team and establish what each system knows, which information is trusted and what should trigger the next action. We follow an order beyond the straightforward sale to amendments, part shipments, refunds and returns.

That gives the technical work a clear business purpose. The connection should remove handling, keep records consistent and make exceptions easier to resolve.

Connect orders, stock, accounts and shipping

I design and implement connections between ecommerce platforms and the tools behind them. Depending on the available interfaces, that can involve APIs, webhooks, scheduled transfers or a focused internal application.

My hands-on experience includes Magento and Sage 50 connections, courier integrations, warehouse tools, handheld workflows, scales and label printing. I bring the data mapping and operational rules into the same project.

The integration must reflect how the business works
ConnectionWhat the workflow needs to resolve
Orders and accountsCustomer records, line items, discounts, payment references, tax, rounding and credit notes.
Stock and availabilityTrusted quantities, reservations, location changes, goods intake, returns and channel updates.
Payment and releaseSuccessful payments, holds, refunds and the conditions that make an order ready to process.
Picking and dispatchReady work, picked quantities, pack confirmation, weights, addresses and courier service rules.
Customer updatesTracking, order status, part shipments and information support staff need.

Build a reliable route for unusual orders

The normal sale is only part of the specification. A duplicate message should not create another shipment. A provider timeout should not leave somebody guessing whether the order transferred. A stock change must have a clear destination and ownership.

I design checks, retries and reconciliation around those conditions. Failed transfers need a visible queue, useful information and a way for staff to act without processing the order twice.

We agree which system owns each piece of information and how conflicts are handled. That includes manual corrections, cancellations after release and updates that arrive in an unexpected order.

Make a small tool do a substantial job

A focused script or internal application can replace a repeated routine without changing every system in the business. It might combine several screens into a usable order view, apply agreed shipping rules, prepare account entries or monitor exceptions.

I compare existing connectors, supported supplier features and custom development against the actual requirement. The decision includes maintenance effort and operating costs as well as the time saved.

Where AI is helpful for variable text or information, it can be part of the workflow. Fixed financial and order rules need explicit behaviour and a clear way to verify the result.

Test the whole process with the people using it

Implementation includes representative orders, realistic exceptions and interrupted transfers. We verify the records in each system and observe how staff deal with the result.

I plan the introduction with your team, which may involve a limited pilot, parallel checking or staged rollout. The right approach depends on the systems, the risk of duplicated work and the operational timetable.

You receive a working connection, documented mappings, operating notes and an agreed exception process. Staff guidance and handover are part of delivery. Ongoing monitoring and future changes can be separately arranged.

Experience joining technology to warehouse work

My previous CTO role included connected wholesale picking, barcode workflows, automatic labels and tools for stocktaking, goods intake and courier claims. Across the wider automation programme, manual work equivalent to three full-time roles was removed and staff were redeployed.

That experience matters when a technically successful transfer still leaves an awkward process. I work with the people receiving the information as well as the developer and suppliers providing it.

Start with a repeated task or unreliable connection

If you know which process needs connecting, we can scope the project directly. Where the manual work crosses the business, the £1,500 Ecommerce & Operations Audit establishes the bigger picture and an implementation roadmap.

I’m based in Bournemouth and work with businesses across Dorset and through to Southampton. A free discovery meeting lasting 30 to 45 minutes, preferably on site, lets us discuss the process and likely options. Consultancy is £80 per hour or an agreed project quote.

Can you fix an integration someone else built?

Yes. I trace the current flow, review available code and documentation, reproduce the failures and recommend the repair or replacement work.

Do we need to replace our accounting or stock software?

We establish what the existing systems support first. A connector, structured transfer or small extension may address the requirement.

Who maintains it afterwards?

The handover explains the dependencies and operating process. You can maintain the connection with your team or agree ongoing support and updates with me.

Which daily routine should your systems be handling?

Show me the copied information, repeated checks or transfers that fail. We’ll discuss a practical route forward in a free discovery meeting.
