Keep the website and connected operation dependable

I help businesses organise the maintenance their websites need, from planned updates to checking important workflows. The work is scoped around your platform, custom functionality and the systems connected to it.

Know what needs attention before a fault becomes urgent

An established website may depend on a theme, extensions, custom code, hosting and several integrations. Maintenance needs a clear picture of those parts and who is responsible for them.

I review the environment, access and existing support arrangements, then propose a workable plan. Initial repairs may be needed before routine maintenance can begin. The budget, recurring work and responsibilities are agreed in advance.

Test the journeys that matter to the business

An update can affect more than page appearance. Your team might rely on a particular export, checkout rule, stock connection or dispatch job. We identify those functions and build representative checks around them.

For ecommerce, testing can include account use, products, basket, payment confirmation, order release and connected operational tools. A business website may instead depend on enquiry forms, publishing or customer-service functions.

  • Plan application, theme and extension updates around compatibility.
  • Use a suitable test environment and an agreed release process.
  • Check customer journeys and operational integrations.
  • Review scheduled work and relevant errors.
  • Record changes, remaining issues and future maintenance needs.

Make backups and ownership useful

Maintenance can include backup arrangements, retention and proportionate restoration checks, where commissioned. The aim is to understand how the service would be recovered and who can access what is needed.

Your business should retain appropriate account ownership and access. I document the setup and responsibilities so it remains understandable as staff, suppliers or support arrangements change.

Detailed security, backup and recovery reviews are separately scoped services. They are outside the standard £1,500 Ecommerce & Operations Audit, which focuses on sales and the connected operation.

Keep improvements and maintenance coordinated

New functionality, hosting changes and routine updates can affect the same system. I help plan them together, so one piece of work does not unexpectedly disrupt another.

If an update reveals a custom-code or extension issue, I explain the implications and additional work before extending the job. You receive a useful account of what changed and what still needs a decision.

I can work with an existing developer, host or internal team, taking responsibility for a defined part of the environment. Ongoing advice and improvement can be added where it helps the business.

An arrangement built around your website

Consultancy is £80 per hour, with fixed project quotes available for defined work. Ongoing maintenance is individually scoped around the environment, tasks and support coverage; supplier charges are shown separately.

I am based in Bournemouth and provide on-site work across Dorset and through to Southampton, with remote delivery further afield. A free discovery meeting normally takes 30–45 minutes, preferably at your premises, to understand the website and practical next steps.

Normal availability is Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, UK time. Call 07356 243199 for urgent out-of-hours assistance, charged at £150 per hour when I can accept the work.

Maintenance questions

Can you take on a website another developer built?

Yes. I first review the site, access, custom work and dependencies, then agree any initial repairs and maintenance scope.

Can we include improvements in the arrangement?

Yes. We can agree a combined worklist for maintenance and development, with priorities and budget clearly defined.

Do we need an ecommerce audit first?

No. Maintenance can be commissioned directly. An audit is useful when you also want to investigate wider sales and operational improvements.
