Growth created a whole-business technology challenge
The business developed from paper-based processes into a retail and wholesale operation with four online stores and two warehouses. The platform had to serve different customers, pricing arrangements and fulfilment requirements while supporting the staff handling the orders.
Online sales needed dependable stock information, payment handling and delivery options. Behind the storefront, orders had to reach warehouse staff and accounting systems with enough information to get the work done. Decisions about the customer journey had consequences across the operation.
My role covered the decisions and their delivery
I established wholesale ecommerce and led the transition from OpenCart to Magento. I developed bespoke modules and integrations connecting orders, stock, payments, shipping and Sage 50 accounting.
I worked directly with the owner on priorities and investment, managed internal staff and coordinated external developers and suppliers. That responsibility let me follow a requirement from the commercial discussion through implementation, testing and daily use.
The work included warehouse tools and processes alongside the storefront. I involved staff in trials, tested realistic orders and provided training and documentation so that the systems worked for the people delivering the service.
The recorded trading and customer feedback
Across the four stores, online transaction value was £10.9m in the twelve months to 22 September 2026. This records the trading supported by the operation I built and led.
A wholesale customer survey received more than 120 responses. Of the website-specific ratings, 95% were 9/10 or 10/10.

These are achievements from my previous CTO role. Transaction value measures trading activity; it does not measure an increase caused by a single project.
What this means when you work with me
I understand the relationship between attracting customers, making it easy to buy and fulfilling what you have sold. I also understand how a platform decision affects the warehouse, support desk and finance team.
That experience is useful when your systems have grown separately, staff rely on workarounds or the business needs to take its next step online. I can investigate what is happening, produce an actionable plan and deliver agreed improvements with your team.
The Ecommerce & Operations Audit costs £1,500 for one website and one business, including preparation, the site visit, report and findings meeting. Implementation is separately scoped. A defined project can also start directly after discovery.
